The History of Canterbury Cathedral

Founded in 597 AD by St Augustine, Canterbury Cathedral quickly became the centre of Christian life in England. The current Gothic structure, with its soaring towers and magnificent stained glass, dates mainly from the 11th to 15th centuries.
