Folkestone Creative Quarter
Welcome to our guide for Folkestone’s Creative Quarter
Tucked away in the heart of Folkestone’s old town, the Creative Quarter is one of Kent’s most vibrant cultural districts — a labyrinth of colourful studios, independent shops, cafés, and galleries where creativity thrives.
Once a neglected area of steep cobbled streets, the Quarter has been transformed into a hub for artists, designers, musicians, and makers, thanks to the ongoing regeneration by the Creative Folkestone project.
Whether you’re browsing local art, enjoying a coffee in a tucked-away courtyard, or exploring street murals by international artists, the Creative Quarter is a must-see destination on the Kent coast.
Explore the Creative Quarter
Winding up from Folkestone Harbour to the town centre, the Creative Quarter is centred around Tontine Street, The Old High Street and Rendezvous Street, where colourful shopfronts showcase the town’s artistic spirit.
There’s tons to see, including:
Independent galleries featuring contemporary and local art
Cafés and coffee shops serving locally roasted blends
Quirky boutiques offering handmade gifts and sustainable fashion
Open studio events where you can meet artists and makers in person
It’s the perfect place to spend a few hours exploring before heading down to the Harbour Arm or the Sunny Sands beach.
